Association for help to addicts and their families SVIT Koper is a non-governmental organization that has been working in the field of drugs since 1992 and implements the program "Working with users of illicit drugs and their relatives", the purpose of which is to solve the problems and social hardships of people who are addicted to ilicit drugs. The goals of the association are the increased social inclusion of drug users, the reduction of health and social consequences that are directly or indirectly related to drug use, support and assistance to those users who want to abstain in their environment or who want to join treatment programs (therapeutic communities, detoxification), encouraging users to be more active in terms of self-help, self-organization, expressing their views, needs and mutual connection, informing and raising awareness among the lay and professional public. The association's programs are intended for active users of illicit drugs and their relatives , users who have completed various assistance programs(detoxification, therapeutic communities...), people who want information about drugs, AIDS and other communicable diseases, people who experiment with drugs or use them recreationally, lay and professional public. The work in the program is based on the harm reduction approach, as a person with less health and social consequences resulting from drug use has better opportunities for equal and active social inclusion. The program is divided into two sections, namely work in the day center and field work .
